PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which reads a picked-up image so that an original image reading is not affected by an operational atmosphere change. SOLUTION: First and second phase transfer clocks are inputted from parallel two communication lines to a CCD driver 33 as clocks XPH1-1, XPH1-2, XPH2-1 and XPG2-2 and inputted from driver IC 100a-100h parallel connected to an input terminal to a three-line CCD 11 as driving signals. Input capacitance of the CCD driver 33 is decreased to shorten latency, a latency difference of an atmospheric condition change is decreased to read the high quality picked-up image from an original image, the paired first and second transfer clocks are inputted to the common driver IC to secure a loss point without delay difference between the driver ICs, and a final transfer clock, a reset clock and a clamp clock are inputted to the common driver IC to accurately perform resetting and to highly accurately secure a clamp area without delay difference between the driver ICs.
