PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in temperature of a reciprocating drive means used for handling weft and operated by passing electric current therethrough. SOLUTION: A yarn passage-changing unit 20 for changing a yarn passage of the weft Y1 between a first yarn guide 17 and a second yarn guide 18 is driven by a stepping motor 19A. When the yarn passage-changing unit 20 located at the illustrated weft-inserting position is moved toward a waiting position, electric current for driving is fed to the stepping motor 19A. When the yarn passage-changing unit 20 is retained at the waiting position, electric current for maintenance having a value smaller than that of the electric current is fed to the stepping motor 19A.
