<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an exact motion vector suitable for creating an interpolating image detectable. <P>SOLUTION: In the method to detect a motion vector between a m-th frame (m: arbitrary integer) and a m+n-th frame (n: one or more integer) of the image, a plurality of the 1st block of predetermined size and predetermined shape are extracted from the m-th frame (S101), a plurality of the 2nd block of the same size and the same shape as the 1st block are extracted from the m+n-th frame (S102), a difference absolute value for every corresponding pixel of the 1st block and the 2nd block is obtained (S103), a count value counting number of pixels in which the difference absolute value becomes under a threshold value is obtained (S104), a pair of blocks including blocks which have the maximum count value is extracted from the 1st and the 2nd blocks, and a vector between the block pair is selected as the motion vector between the m-th frame and the m+n-th frame (S105). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
