PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To providing a reversible thermal recording material on which forming and erasing of an image can be repeatedly performed by a thermal method and an erasable optical rewriting can be performed.

SOLUTION: This reversible thermal recording material is provided with a reversible thermal recording layer comprising an ordinarily colorless or light-colored dye precursor and a reversible color developing agent capable of generating a reversible change in color tone in the dye precursor by heating, and a retouching layer comprising a photochromic compound and no reversible color developing agent.
