PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IC socket which is superior in operability that always enables to stably keep the amount of opening in a contact, in such a way that a slider member as a moving plate is moved vertically or horizontally, to push a contact inside using a fix plate as a fulcrum, thus opening the top end of the contact outwardly. SOLUTION: An IC socket includes a cover member movable in the vertical directions, a plurality of nipping-type contacts which are formed as to contact with an IC package loaded on, a socket body, wherein the contacts are fixed, and a grid-like fixed plate for holding the contacts is positioned apart from the socket body, wherein the IC socket further includes a slider member, so as to cooperatively moves vertically with respect to the fixed plate for opening and closing the contacts.
