PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic converter in which lowering in catalyst carrier holding power through a holding mat is reduced. SOLUTION: (A) The catalytic converter 1 houses a catalyst carrier 2 in which the holding mat 3 is wound around an outer circumference thereof. The casing 4 has an inner cylinder 5 and an outer cylinder 6. At least the inner cylinder 5 has one clearance 8 formed in a circumferential direction, the outer cylinder 6 is weld to the inner cylinder 5. (B) The inner cylinder 5 is thicker than the outer cylinder 6. (C) The outer cylinder 6 has at least one projecting part 10 in a circumferential direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
