PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified propylene polymer which is excellent in resin characteristics and almost contains no low molecular weight polymer, as a by-product, badly affecting the physical properties; and its production method. SOLUTION: The modified propylene polymer has the following characteristics: (1) the content of polar group sections derived from a compound having an ethylenic double bond and a polar group is 0.10-0.30 mmol/g, (2) the intrinsic viscosity ([η]<SB>A</SB>) measured in tetralin at 135°C is 0.8-3.0 dL/g, (3) the molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) is higher than 2.5, and (4) the content of a component with a molecular weight (Mw) of 10,000 or lower is 5 wt% or lower.
