PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper splicing device and a paper splicing method of a printer for improving productivity by reducing a printing registering difference by reducing a shock at paper splicing time. SOLUTION: This paper splicing device 1 of the printer is provided with a body 10, an old paper roll roller member 13 arranged in the body 10 and wound with old continuous paper W1 and a new paper roll roller member 14 wound with a new continuous paper sheet W2 spliced with the old continuous paper sheet W1 in a paper splicing position D, a paster means 20 including a paster member 28 for connecting the both continuous paper sheet W1 and W2 and a pressing force regulating means for regulating pressing force of the paster member 28. Thus, since the pressing force of the paster member is regulated when splicing the both continuous paper sheets, a shock can be absorbed when landing the paster member at paper splicing time. As a result, since a large brake is not applied to a surface speed of the roller members for the old continuous paper sheet and a new paper roll, a printing registering difference can be prevented so that the productivity can be improved.
