PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a properly bright still image without repeating a freezing operation. SOLUTION: A videoscope 50 having a CCD 54 is connected to a processor 10. Then, an image signal read from the CCD 54 is processed and a moving picture is displayed on a monitor 60. A liquid crystal shutter 35 is operated by depressing a freeze switch button 58 arranged in the videoscope 50. In this case, the molecular arrangement of the liquid crystal shutter 35 is changed to allow a light quantity toward a subject S to reach a reference light quantity. When the light quantity reaches the reference light quantity, an electronic shutter is operated. Then the still image is recorded in an image recording memory 75 and a video-recorder 70.
