<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical head for an optical disk device with reduced dimensions and weight, which also largely reduces the number of part items and man-hours of adjustment. <P>SOLUTION: The optical head is made up so as to be provided with: a stem 6; a laser diode 8 fixed to the stem 6; an objective lens for focusing the beam from the laser diode 8 on a magneto-optical disk; a photo-detector 60 which is fixed to the stem 6 and detects the light reflected by the disk; a cap 14 mounted on the stem 6 so as to enclose the laser diode 8 and the photo-detector 60; a beam splitter unit including a polarized beam splitter 18 mounted on the cap 14 and a prism 62 for reflecting the beam reflected by the polarized beam splitter 18 in the direction of the photo-detector 60; and a lens 66 placed on the bottom face of the polarization splitter 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
