PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metadata collection/distribution system capable of efficiently collecting and distributing metadata related to contents held by a contents server.

SOLUTION: This metadata collection/distribution system comprises a contents server having contents, a metadata providing server providing metadata related to contents held by the contents server to clients, and a metadata collection/distribution server collecting the metadata and distributing the metadata to the metadata providing server. The metadata collection/distribution server comprises a providing means providing metadata collection program from the metadata collection/distribution server to the contents server and a collection means collecting the metadata converted to a specified format by the collection program.
