PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input apparatus capable of translating an imaging means with a constant height from a base and changing the height setting in spite of a simple structure of the apparatus. SOLUTION: An angle restriction means 6 consists of an engagement member 6c and a groove 6b with which the engagement member 6c engages. The engagement member 6c is provided to an end of one-side end of an arm 3a, and a plate member 6a with the groove 6b is provided to one end of an arm 4b. The shape of the groove 6b is decided so that the imaging means 2 makes a translation while keeping the height from mounts 1a, 1b constant when the arms 4a, 4b of a second parallel link mechanism 4 are turned in interlocking with turning of the arms 3a, 3b of a first parallel link mechanism 3.
