PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve exhaust performance and fuel efficiency by increasing frequency and time for idle-stop. SOLUTION: An engine is automatically stopped (S3), if during a stop of a vehicle (S1), idle-stop conditions including the following conditions are established; a brake-fluid pressure is higher than a lower limit threshold, and at the same time, a booster negative-pressure of a brake servo-unit is lower than a negative-pressure lower-limit threshold (S2). The liquid pressure lower-limit threshold is corrected so that the lower-limit threshold becomes higher, as the booster negative-pressure is smaller. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
