PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for judging the press-clogging of a coke oven, which enables the judgment considering the characteristics of each oven, and to provide a method for operating the coke oven by the judging method. SOLUTION: This method for judging the press clogging of the coke oven is characterized by defining a criterion for expressing a degree of approximation to historical data with an arbitrary pair of the maximum press force and its developed ram position as inputting variables, on the basis of a plurality of pairs of historical data whose each pair of the data comprises the maximum press force and its developed ram position, and then judging the degree of the possibility of the press clogging on the basis of the output value of the criterion.
