PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for readily producing a high-purity cyclic dimer of a polyethylene isophthalate in high yield by using a nonhalogen solvent and an ester-interchange reaction by rapidly promoting the reaction by efficiently discharging by-products to the outside of the reaction system. SOLUTION: The method for producing the cyclic dimer of the polyethylene isophthalate represented by formula (I) involves subjecting a diester of isophthalic acid and a diester of ethylene glycol to an interchange reaction between different kinds of esters.
