摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium in which a recording layer mainly comprises an organic compound, and an optical recording/reproducing method using a blue-violet semiconductor laser beam (the wave length is 390-420 nm) as a recording/reproducing laser beam. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium 1 has at least the recording layer 3 with an organic compound as a main component and an optical transmitting layer 4 transmitting a laser beam for recording/reproducing with the wave length of 390-420 nm on a supporting base 2. The organic compound of the recording layer 3 has a minimum value n<SB>min</SB>of a refractive index n (real part of complex index of refraction) in a range of 370-425 nm. In addition, for the refractive index in the wave length of the laser beam for reproducing the recording, a monomethine cyanine coloring matter is incorporated so that it absorbs the laser beam to generate a change in the refractive index by melting or decomposition, and recording of information can be performed thereby. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
