PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera whereby a photographer can easily photograph an object as instructed by an instructor.

SOLUTION: The digital still camera stores a photographing instruction file 21 created by a photographing instructor and displays the file on a display apparatus. Then the object instructed by an article name 22 and description of remarks 27 is photographed. Further, selecting a desired No. in this case automatically sets a compression coding processing system such as the number of hierarchical layers 23 and a compression rate 24, the image data after photographing are compression-coded by the setting system and the result is recorded on a recording medium.
