PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a glow plug which can suppress deformation of a heater tube of small diameter even when the press-fitting load is high. SOLUTION: In a glow plug manufacturing method having a cylindrical fitting piece with an inner hole formed in the axial direction and a heater tube to be press-fitted in the inner hole from a rear end side with a tip face closed, the axial load is transmitted to the heater tube by abutting a stopper on the tip face of the heater tube, and applying the axial load between the stopper and the fitting piece. In this state, the press-fitting of the heater tube is started, and a side surface of the heater tube is held by a supporting body to prevent deformation of the heater tube. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
