PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can suppress deterioration in images caused by difference in scanning lengths between each of multiple beams without increasing cost. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus detects the difference (Xb-Xa) in the scanning lengths on a photosensitive drum 11 between each of laser beams based on the outputs of each of BD sensors 36 and 37 and changes the number of the high-frequency clocks forming one pixel at a specific point on a line scanned by the corresponding laser beam based on the result of the detection. As a result, the scanning lengths Xa and Xb on the surface of the photosensitive drum 11 are electrically corrected, making it possible to make the scanning lengths Xa and Xb by the two laser beams equal to each other.
