PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily confirm the progress of abrasion and to reuse a worn limit gauge. SOLUTION: Since a hard film 22 of TiN is coated on the surface of a tool raw material 20, satisfactory wear resistance can be obtained, and since the hard film 22 is gold to be clearly different from the tool raw material 20, when the hard film 22 wears away due to use to expose the tool raw material 20, abrasion (use limit) can be easily confirmed visually from a difference in color so that an expensive measuring device such as thread measurement three wires is not required. When the hard film 22 wears away to reach the limit of use, the hard film 22 is removed from the tool raw material 20 by strong acid, and then again the hard film 22 is coated to be reused.
