PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaporator and a refrigerator having high cooling efficiency and capable of suppressing reduction of performance of a compressor by supplying refrigerant gas suppressing mixture of refrigerant liquid droplet to the compressor. SOLUTION: In the evaporator 12 for the refrigerator provided with a vessel 14 in which refrigerant is introduced, groups 15A to 15C of heat transfer pipes in which many heat transfer pipes in which a substance to be boiled and vaporized by heating refrigerant flows are arranged in bundles and which extend in one direction, and a refrigerant gas exhaust port 21, the refrigerant gas exhaust port 21 is arranged in a region in an innermost part which exceeds 1/2 of the direction of length of a region where the heat transfer pipes extend from a cold water inlet 16 of the heat transfer pipe in the latter region.
