PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having an excellent vermin-controlling activity and the vermin controlling uses of the compound. SOLUTION: This malononitrile compound is expressed by formula (1) [wherein, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>are each H or the like; R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>are the same or different and are each a 1-6C alkyl which may be substituted by a halogen atom, a 2-6C alkenyl which may be substituted by a halogen atom or the like; R<SP>5</SP>is a halogen atom or the like; and (n) is an optional integer of 0-4]. The vermin-controlling agent contains the malononitrile compound as an active ingredient.
