VIDEO SYSTEM CONVERSION METHOD AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video system conversion method and an apparatus therefor which realize simplification of the processing in the video system conversion, and reduction of the apparatus cost.

SOLUTION: In the video system conversion method whereby a field DCT or a frame DCT is adaptively selected for blocks resulting from dividing an image into small divisions to encode a data stream and a video system of an image decoded from the encoded data stream is converted, an in-field interpolation or an inter-field interpolation is applied to the encoded data stream depending on a DCT type included in the encoded data stream to thereby omit moving detection processing for analyzing a feature of the image in the video system conversion, and the apparatus cost is reduced accordingly.
