PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging unit capable of photographing an object and displaying an imaged object that attains live view display with high image quality while suppressing increase in the power consumption and a generated heat. SOLUTION: An entire control unit 50 and an EVF display unit 100 are configured to be separate units, and the entire control unit 50 transmits image data to be displayed on an EVF 22 to the EVF display unit 100. The entire control unit 50 applies compression processing to the image data obtained from a CCD 41 and transmits compressed image data G12 to the EVF display unit 100.
