IMAGE ENCODING DEVICE, IMAGE DECODING DEVICE AND THEIR METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image format which can impart additional information while maintaining image quality and a compression rate and to provide an encoding system. SOLUTION: This encoding system consists of: a block dividing means 101 for dividing a given image into block images of a particular pixel size; a representative color calculating means 102 for calculating at least one or more representative colors that represent a block; an interpolation representative color determining means 103 for determining representative colors that can be expressed by interpolation of at least two or more representative colors among representative colors on the basis of an encoding format and simultaneously determining an interpolation coefficient among representative colors; a pixel information encoding means 104 for determining an interpolation representative color that represents the color of each pixel constituting the block among interpolation representative colors calculated by the interpolation of the representative colors according to the representative colors and the interpolation coefficient and encoding its index information; an encoded block generating means 105 for configuring the representative colors, the interpolation coefficients and encoded pixel information according to the encoding format; and a block connecting means 106 for connecting encoded blocks.
