PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring machine adapted to accurately measure a distance, although being portable. SOLUTION: In the distance measuring machine , a light spot irradiating part 3 is provided near an ultrasonic sensor 2 of the measuring machine body 1, whereby a light beam is irradiated toward a distance measuring point to clearly show a distance measuring point on an object to be measured with a light spot. The distance measuring machine is provided with select switches 4, 5 for switching between a distance measuring mode and a height measuring mode, or switching a measurement reference surface between the front A of the measuring machine body 1 and the rear C thereof. The distance measuring machine is provided with a temperature sensor 17 for automatically adjusting temperature correction for the ultrasonic sensor 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
