PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain/protect, in a stable status, a drive mechanism housed in the housing space of a base member, in a rear derailleur having a drive mechanism, so that the performance capabilities of the rear derailleur can be fully delivered. SOLUTION: In the rear derailleur 1, a first displacement regulating part 14a is constituted of a pair of recessed parts 15 formed mutually aligned concentric on each of the opposite faces of both base members 2, 3 and cylindrical guide members 16 that pierce through the drive mechanism 4. The guide members 16 pierce through the drive mechanism at the locations of screw holes 10 and bolt holes 13 provided at the upper end parts of both base members 2, 3, while both edges thereof are in contact with the bottom parts 18 of the recessed parts 15 of the base members 2, 3. Furthermore, at a second displacement regulating part 14b, butt-joined parts 30a, b are formed, as in the state of being mounted on the bicycle, aslant from the lower ends of the back surfaces of both the base members 2, 3 toward the intermediate parts and are provided in such an arrangement that they are of different levels at the upper part of the back surfaces as they become bent from the intermediate part toward the upper part.
