PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewage tratment apparatus for removing a phosphorus compound and a nitrogen compound, which prevents the deterioration of removal ability of the nitrogen compound due to the lowering of the outside temperature. SOLUTION: The phosphorus compound and the nitrogen compound are removed simultaneously by means of electrolytic treatment. Therein, for the removal of the nitrogen compound, a conductive material including iron is used as cathodic material and, as anodic material, a conductive material capable of producing hypohalogenous acid, ozone or activated oxygen by means of electrochemical technique is used when constituting the anodic material. Thus, the denitrification treatment of ammonia and ammonia ion is effectively carried out. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
