PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveguide type optical multiplexer/demultiplexer without being affected by the change of external environmental temperature. SOLUTION: A pedestal 4 for fixing the waveguide type optical multiplexer/demultiplexer 2 to a cabinet 5 is dispensed with by covering the waveguide type optical multiplexer/demultiplexer 2 with heat insulating materials 6a,6b so as to be in a floating state in the cabinet 5. Thereby heat conduction inside and outside the cabinet 5 through the pedestal 4 is eliminated and the waveguide type optical multiplexer/demultiplexer 2 is thermally completely shielded from the outside of the cabinet 5 and is not affected by change of the external environmental temperature.
