PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new perfluoro-expanded porphyrins and derivatives thereof, and to provide methods for synthesizing them. SOLUTION: The perfluororing-expanded porphyrins, perfluoropentaphyrins each with a macrocyclic ring comprising 5 to 10 pyrrole rings forming the macrocyclic ring where the pyrrole rings each with the hydrogen atoms at 3- and 4-positions substituted with fluorine atoms are alternately bound atα-position to methine groups each with a hydrogen atom substituted with a pentafluorophenyl group, are e.g. perfluohexaphyrin, a reduced form thereof, a conformational isomer of perfluorohexaphyrin with two pyrrole rings inverted, perfluoroheptaphyrin, a condensed ring-form heptaphyrin thereof, a methanol adduct of condensed ring-form heptaphyrin, perfluorooctaphyrin, reduced form thereof, perfluorononaphyrin, perfluorodecaphyrin.
