<p>A cathode ray tube (1) includes a tension mask (30) attached to a rectangular mask frame assembly (20) that has two long sides (22, 24) paralleling a central major axis thereof and two short sides (26, 28) paralleling a central minor axis thereof. The two long sides are disposed at generally a right angle with respect to the two short sides with each of the sides connected to form a continuous generally planar support frame having an inner and outer peripheral surface. The support frame is formed of a material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion and includes a detensioning member (31,32,131,132,231,232,331,332) formed of a second coefficient of thermal expansion on the peripheral surface of at least one side of the frame to facilitate detensioning of the mask.</p> |
