1,227,217. Worm-and-wheel gearing. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. 15 July, 1968 [14 July, 1967], No. 33702/68. Heading F2Q. A globoidal worm 2 meshes a gear-wheel 1 formed with recesses in its tooth flanks, the recesses being fed continuously with pressure oil to form hydrostatic oil cushions and maintain a clearance between the meshing gear teeth to reduce wear. A pump feeds oil to the recesses through passages (3), Fig. 7 (not shown), in the wheel 1. The pump also supplies oil to hydrostatic bearings (12), Fig. 6 (not shown), and (24) for the worm and wheel respectively, variations in delivery pressures to these bearings allowing alignment of the wheel and worm to be effected. Throttle valves (21) in the oil delivery line serve to deliver more oil to the pressure cushions on the loaded flank sides then to the unloaded flank sides. |
