The invention relates to aerogels based on a polymer obtained by polymerization of at least one aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon monomer, optionally substituted by at least one or several halogen atoms, comprising at least two ethylenic functions or based on a copolymer obtained by polymerization of at least one monomer whose definition is identical to that previously given with at least one comonomer which is polymerizable with said monomer. The invention also relates to a method for the preparation of said aerogels. The inventive aerogels can be used in the field of acoustic insulation or thermal insulation and microporous membranes.
