The invention relates to a method and device for introduction of a pattern of holes (19) into a workpiece (1), a device for the introduction of a pattern of holes (19) and a tube spring with slots. A method for introduction of slots with a constant width is disclosed. Firstly a puncture hole is introduced in a sheet by means of a first laser beam (8). Then a slot (19) is introduced in the plate (1), beginning at the puncture hole, by means of a second laser beam (9) with a greater diameter than the first laser beam (8). By means of the two-stage laser method, a widening of the cutting width of the second laser beam (9) is avoided. The sheet (1) can be worked to give a tube spring.
