摘要 Production of a gas diffusion electrode (1) containing carbon fibers (2), soot (3) and polytetrafluoroethylene (4) comprises forming one or more dispersions containing a gas diffusion electrode component and a liquid, producing a precursor material from the dispersion, drying, sintering, impregnating the precursor material, compressing into a gas diffusion electrode material, and removing pieces of required dimensions. Production of a gas diffusion electrode (1) containing carbon fibers (2), soot (3) and polytetrafluoroethylene (4) comprises forming one or more dispersions containing a gas diffusion electrode component and a liquid, producing a precursor material from the dispersion, drying, sintering, impregnating the precursor material with an impregnated precursor material when the precursor material contains one or more of the components in the required amount, compressing into a gas diffusion electrode material, and removing pieces of required dimensions from the material. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Gas diffusion electrode obtained by the above process; (2) Membrane electrode unit containing a polymer electrolyte membrane and a gas diffusion electrode; and (3) Polymer electrolyte fuel cell containing an anode, cathode and polymer electrolyte membrane arranged between the electrodes, in which one of the electrodes is a gas diffusion electrode.
