A tool for surface finishing of stainless steel, e.g. for cleaning weld beads, has a flat metal blade (2) fitted to a support shaft (1) by welding (5). The tool is made of stainless steel and selected abrasive sheets are secured to the blade by press tapes. The tool is fitted to a conventional hand held servo driven scraper to provide a surface finish controlled by hand pressure. The blade can have a slot (6) for working on larger weld beads.
