PURPOSE: A method for producing a seedling pot by molding a mixture of waste gelatin, sawdust, rice bran and stone powder and subjecting the pot to a hardening treatment with aldehydes or ketones is provided. Therefore, the seedling pot itself is capable of being transplanted without separating seedlings therefrom. CONSTITUTION: A mixture of 70 to 95% by weight of waste gelatin, 5 to 15% by weight of sawdust, 5 to 15% by weight of rice bran and 10 to 30% by weight of stone powder is molded under pressure to give a pot. The pot is subjected to a crosslinking reaction with aldehyde or ketone compounds such as glutaraldehyde, methylethylketone, formaldehyde or the like. The biodegradation of waste gelatin composing the seedling pot is controlled according to the crosslinking of an amino group of proteins to a ketone group of aldehydes or ketones. |
