Method for stress or load dependent strength design of motor vehicles and or vehicle components has the following steps: determination of a correlation between determined stress indicating values and determined stress relevant, usage indicating values based on recorded or determined test data; and determination of characteristic values based on the determined correlation data for given usage profiles so that a vehicle and or vehicle components can be adjusted accordingly. An Independent claim is made for a device for stress or load dependent strength design of motor vehicles and or vehicle components.
