The fireproof covering (6) for existing and new structures is created by the use of a binding medium foam which consists of a mineral binding material, in the form of cement, and a foaming agent, water, air and aggregate material, which is applied to the whole surface to be protected in a thickness of 30-60mm and which in the hardened state forms the fireproof covering. The aggregate may consist of sand, limestone powder and plastic fibers.
