A container for dispensing controlled amounts of a liquid, e.g. hair treatment compounds, has a plastic container (2) fitted with a dispensing chamber (4) above a neck and plug (9) and with a rising tube (5) between the container and the dispensing chamber, the upper level of which determines the level of liquid in the dispensing chamber. The user squeezes the container to force liquid into the dispensing chamber. On releasing the container excess liquid drains back into the reservoir. The user presses a flexible bellows shaped extension (6, 7) on the dispensing chamber to dispense the required amount of liquid, the container being held upside down.
