METHOD OF SCREENING ANTIPRURITIC SUBSTANCE

It is intended to provide a quick screening method for conveniently finding out an antipruritic substance at a high reproducibility and a method of evaluating the antipruritic effect of a remedy for itching. The screening or the evaluation can be performed by administering a test substance or a remedy for itching to an experimental animals, after a definite period of time dropping serotonin or its salt or compound 48/80 into the eyes of the animal, measuring the eye-scratching number thus induced within a definite period of time and then comparing the obtained result with the eye-scratching number in the case where a sample containing neither the test substance nor the remedy for itching is administered.
