Blade holder comprises a retractor shaft (1) and a holding device for a ball-like hinged body of a retractor blade. The holding device consists of a spring chuck (2) with a ball seat fixed to the retractor shaft and a sliding sleeve (4) which slides in a holding position via the spring chuck and in an exchanging position in the direction of the shaft so that the sleeve and the chuck form a detachable ball closure. Preferred Features: The ball seat of the spring chuck has axial slits (10) on the front side in the insertion direction of a hinged body and the spring chuck can be elastically extended for introducing and removing the hinged body when the sliding sleeve is retracted.
