The audio system includes a device for outputting an audio signal to at least one loudspeaker, and a device for outputting a second audio signal that is to be superimposed on the first audio signal when reproduced via the loudspeakers. When the two audio signals are reproduced in superimposed form, a common loudness control (12) provides antiparallel control to raise the loudness of the first audio signal, while simultaneously reducing the loudness of the other audio signal.
