It is intended to provide a growth inhibitor for human hepatitis C virus comprising alpha-glycosylceramide as the active ingredient which is to be used for patients infected with the above virus. Namely, a hepatitis C virus inhibitor which contains as the active ingredient the compound of the formula (I), its salt or a solvate thereof.
