The invention relates to a method for the chemical treatment of a substrate which is made from a wood-containing material. According to the invention, the aforementioned substrate is brought into contact with at least one organic compound having a molar mass of less than 500 and comprising at least two carbamate or urethane functions with formula -NH-CO-O-, said compound having formula (I): R1-O-CO-NH-R-NH-CO-O-R2 (I), wherein R is a divalent group which is preferably selected from alkylene groups 1-10C, aromatic ring groups 6-10C, such as the phenylene group, which are optionally substituted, for example, by one or more 1-6C alkyl groups such as methyl, the groups comprising several 6-10C aromatic ring groups being optionally substituted, for example, by one or more 1-6C alkyl groups, and linked by a single bond or by a divalent group such as a 1-10C alkylene group; and R1 and R2 represent independently of each other a 1-6C alkyl group such as the ethyl group or a 6-10C aromatic ring group such as the phenyl group. |
