PURPOSE: An electric oven and a method for controlling the same are provided to shorten the total cooking time by shortening the preheating time. CONSTITUTION: An electric oven comprises a case having a cooking space for accommodating a foodstuff; a heater unit for heating the foodstuff by using an electric heater; an induction heating unit for induction heating the foodstuff by using a radio frequency current; and a control unit(51) for controlling the heater unit and the induction heating unit in accordance with a cooking mode. A method for controlling an electric oven comprises a step of receiving a cooking command; a step of judging whether the mode is a preheating mode for increasing the temperature of the interior of the cooking space; a step of preheating a heater coil and a working coil at the same time if the mode is a preheating mode; a step of sensing the temperature of the interior of the cooking space; and a step of stopping the preheating operation when the sensed temperature has reached the preset temperature level.
