PURPOSE: A storage compartment is provided to supply a soft lining for a sealing member between a lid and a shell and to secure a continuous surface-to-surface contact by elastically disposing a sealing edge to the lid in closing the lid. CONSTITUTION: A storage compartment(1) comprises a shell(2) and a lid(4). The shell is made from a hard plastic. A lining is made of a softer plastic. The frame of the lining is contacted to the lid and is a sealing edge(7) at which a sealing surface(8) of the lid is seated. The lining is made of thermoplastic polyurethane. The sealing surface of the lid is a sloping surface. The shell and the lid consist of hard plastics, for example on a polycarbonate basis, and have the necessary stability. The lining serves cushioning, damping, and sound insulation functions for articles moving in the storage compartment. The shell and the lining are bonded to each other by injection-molding two components.
