PURPOSE: A method for implementing a lock function in lapse of certain time and a mobile communication terminal implementing the same are provided to prevent leakage of personal information or various data of a user even if a mobile terminal is lost by automatically setting the terminal in a locked state if there is no key input by the user for a certain time period. CONSTITUTION: A controller(200) controls every function of a mobile communication terminal. A key pad(210) transmits an instruction of a user to the controller(200). A display unit(220) displays various menu image selected by the user and an executed image or a result image. A memory unit(230) stores set information of a locking function received from the user and a program for performing the locking function in lapse of certain time. An audio processor(240) processes a voice recorded through a microphone by the user to data and transmits the data to the controller(200), or processes data received from outside and outputs an analog voice through a speaker. A timer unit(250) checks time by using a clock pulse generated from the controller(200) and performs a calculation function. A radio circuit unit(260) receives a phone call or a short message transmitted by a mobile phone through an antenna and transmits it to the controller(200), or transmits the data stored in the memory unit(230) to the mobile phone of a caller through the antenna.
