PURPOSE: A lithium ion battery having an improved bottom plate is provided by simply inserting a bottom plate into the lithium ion battery without a welding process. The bottom plate can be detached from the exterior terminal by explosion of a safety side when some problems in battery occur, thereby improving the stability of the battery. CONSTITUTION: The lithium ion battery(20) comprises a can(21) receiving an electrode assembly(28) comprising a battery section(22) where a positive electrode plate(22a), a separator(22c) and a negative electrode plate(22b) are wound up, and a cap plate assembly(23) which is welded along the edge of the upper side of the can, wherein the edge contacting with the can and cap plate assembly is tilted to prevent the inflow of welding beam into the can, during welding. The bottom plate(24) of the battery comprises a base section(24a) and an elastic support section(24b) which extends from the each end of the base plate to upward and is elastically biased toward the can. |
