PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling operation of an air conditioner is provided to setting secret code using character or number in the air conditioner and a remote controller as radio frequency signal at initial power impression, and to control only the corresponding air conditioner to work. CONSTITUTION: A remote controller includes a remote controller key input part(80) to which key is inputted to set password for recognizing only a specific equipment; an A/D converting unit converting signal inputted through the remote controller key input part into digital signal; a remote controller micro controller(70) generating and storing the password using value of the A/D converting unit; and a transmission part(60) transmitting the generated password and control signal to a main body. The main body includes a receiving part(50) receiving signal transmitted by the transmission part; and a control unit storing the password generated in the remote controller, and receiving radio frequency signal through the receiving part, checking the password, and controlling driving of the equipment.
